What They’re Saying: 2025 Ford Bronco Sport

Apr 15, 2025

Nearly 80 media, content creators, influencers, and others were recently among the first to drive the new 2025 Ford Bronco Sport in San Diego and Borrego Springs, California. Attendees took the SUV for on- and off-road adventures to experience its enhanced capability and technology. The event showcased the performance of Bronco Sport’s 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engines and the advanced off-road capability of the first-ever Badlands Sasquatch model, which includes the new Rally G.O.A.T. drive mode and extends Bronco Sport’s capability lead over rival small SUVs.

Reviews for Maverick were published last week. A sample of Bronco Sport media reviews are below:

Raves

“The Sasquatch package is the real deal, carrying the Bronco Sport through challenges far greater than most owners will ever face.” – Detroit Free Press

“… the Bronco Sport, especially in its highest off-road Badlands trim with the optional Sasquatch package, has more chops than (Jeep Compass Trailhawk, Toyota RAV4 TRD Off Road, and Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness).” – Jalopnik

“The 2025 Ford Badlands Sasquatch earns its price tag. Rock Crawl mode lets it tackle obstacles that would make entry-level Jeep Wranglers and big Ford Broncos take notice. A Subaru wouldn’t even make it to the base of some of the hills we climbed …” – MotorTrend

“Don't be fooled by naysayers: the Bronco Sport is an incredibly competent off-road vehicle, and it just got better.” – CarBuzz

“The Bronco Sport Badlands Sasquatch is a riot, sliding around like an old-school rally car.” – Motor1.com

“For a daily driver that can take you to some pretty amazing vistas, the Bronco Sport is a solid choice.” – Edmunds

“… Ford deserves credit for delivering something that is as long on substance as it is on sizzle.” – The Drive

“In this segment, there's really not much directly competing with it and, if you're looking to go off the beaten path even further than anything else, it’s hard not to recommend the Bronco Sport.” – Kelley Blue Book

“Ford has turned these cute little pavement-dwellers into legitimate off-road vehicles capable of more than you might expect.” – The Globe & Mail

Rants

“Ultimately I liked the Bronco Sport well enough, but nobody who buys this trucklet will ever need to drive aggressive trails or deep sand like I did.” – Jalopnik

“(The 1.5-liter engine) is certainly not as torquey crawling over obstacles in the dirt or as quick getting up to speed on the road ...” – MotorTrend

“The upgrade to the 2.0-liter engine makes a difference with 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet on tap, but that's only going to show if you plan to regularly push the Bronco Sport hard off road.” – CarBuzz

“Also, while I love the fast 13.2-inch touchscreen display, Ford has moved climate controls to the screen. That’s a bad enough move when a company has Grade-A software to control it, but the Bronco Sport’s clunky fan speed control and jittery sliders make it among the worst offenders.” – Motor1.com

“After getting tossed around in the sand and over quite a few rocky obstacles, I really wanted better seats in the Sasquatch. The standard seats in the Bronco Sport, no matter the trim level or the upholstery, are too flat and devoid of any real support.” – Edmunds

“If you do keep it on the road, you will have to keep in mind that it's a little bit loud in here because of the bigger tires and the boxy shape. I did notice that there’s wind noise. It sounds like the windows are cracked open, but they're not even open so you will definitely hear that kind of stuff on the highway. So, if you want the quietest, most refined car, this is not going to be the one you want.” – Kelley Blue Book
