In his custom Chevy Impala, T-Pain plays West Coast rap and hip hop. In his Nissan R34, he’s likely listening to Asian jazz. As for bossa nova, the rapper saves that for his Rolls-Royce Spectre.
T-Pain's eclectic car collection is one of many topics that captured CEO Jim Farley’s attention when the two recorded the latest installment of Farley’s DRIVE podcast. Watch or listen to the full episode on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.
The Auto-Tune pioneer shares his observations on the colloquial nature of cars, how he combats potholes in Atlanta (hint: it involves a Bronco), and the importance of innovating, whether making music or building cars.
“I don’t look at other artists or other people in the industry for ideas,” T-Pain tells Farley. “The easiest thing to do — and you know this even in (the auto) industry — the easiest thing to do is to look at somebody else’s work that has worked and just copy that. But the innovators don’t look at things like that.”
Season 3 of DRIVE is scheduled to run through May 14, with a new episode dropping every Wednesday. Click here to see the full lineup of Season 3 guests.
