COLOGNE, Germany – These stunning photographs of Capri were captured in historic Venice at the weekend as part of a mystery media drive.
Ford Italy invited 14 top journalists to get behind the wheel of Capri, but kept the destination a secret, as Ford’s Sabina Grixoni explains.
“The whole drive was based on the concept ‘experience the unexpected’, so we invited media to meet us at a starting location in Padova but didn’t disclose anything else.
“They then got to drive around Colli Euganei, the beautiful hills that surround Padova, before heading down into Venice.”
Sabina adds: “In Venice, media might expect the usual gondola experience. Instead, we took them to an unexpected tour of the libertine Venice of 1200/1300, where people were free to express themselves. We also stayed at a hotel that was unexpected as it was redesigned entirely combining modern touch with tradition and heritage, just like our Capri.”
Italy wasn’t the only country hosting a Capri media drive this month. Ford Germany took 10 automotive, lifestyle and broadcast media to a special Capri drive experience in Aix-En-Provence, France, that was supported by Ford of Europe Design director Amko Leenarts.
Ford Germany’s Ingo Behrendt told @Ford: “It was a very successful event, with a focus on ‘mischief rewired’ with Capri’s innovative features such as the new Frunk. Amko gave a fascinating insight into the design story of the new Capri, revealing ‘What would have happened if we would have continued designing a Ford Capri after 1986’.”
