Kristy Willis, a military spouse and mother of four, received a surprise gift Wednesday on the "Today" show: a new Ford F-150 truck. The vehicle will aid Willis' ongoing efforts to support Western North Carolina residents affected by Hurricane Helene.

Willis, whose husband serves in Special Operations, has lived through more than 20 deployments since Sept. 11, 2001. She described raising her children as "the normal everyday challenges of raising children; however, with the additional layer of supporting an active duty service member who is always deploying."

Finding inspiration after a wellness retreat for military families, Willis dedicated herself to assisting her community. Since October, she has spearheaded a relief effort, collecting and delivering essential winter supplies including tents, sleeping bags, and propane tanks.

“Her selflessness, empathy, and leadership skills shine a light on the strength of a military spouse,” a Today show spokesperson said. The new truck, provided by Ford, will significantly enhance Willis' ability to continue her relief work.
