Michael Weinberg, a forklift operator at Michigan Assembly Plant and proud Lions fan, shows his support for the team with his new Detroit Lions-themed F-150. The trucks are a hot item in Metro Detroit as the team prepares for the playoffs.
Possibly the only thing hotter in Metro Detroit than a Detroit Lions playoff ticket right now is a unique Detroit Lions-themed Ford F-150. With the resurgent Lions having their best season in franchise history, many fans have been showing their pride by driving the limited-edition pickups.
The special limited-edition trucks feature a variety of Lions logos inside and out as well as the team’s signature color, Honolulu Blue, in several locations.
Eight hundred of the special limited-edition trucks were created by Ford and Southeast Michigan Ford Dealers in partnership with the Detroit Lions. The trucks are based on the popular F-150 PowerBoost Hybrid, and each includes a variety of Lions logos inside and out, as well as the Lions’ insignia embroidered on the headrests and the team’s signature color, Honolulu Blue, emblazoned on the hood, front tow hooks, and elsewhere. The F-150 trucks also sport a unique interior badge indicating the truck’s build order number. The trucks are available in black, silver and white, and they include blacked-out wheels and grilles.
How to get one
The Detroit Lions Special Edition F-150 trucks’ MSRP is $66,845. Most of the allotment has been sold – 80% of inventory has been sold to date and the remainder are expected to be snatched up by the Super Bowl – but A-Plan customers can lease one of the remaining pickups for $399 per month for 24 months with $2,179 cash due at signing with a trade-in. As for the trucks’ inspiration, the Lions begin the playoffs Saturday, Jan. 18 against the Washington Commanders at 8 p.m. on Fox.
