To engage more employees beyond Southeast Michigan, Stephanie Smith, Social Impact & Smart Mobility Leader, the Ford Volunteer Corps and the Essential Services Team partnered with Feeding America to connect with food banks in areas where Ford has a strong employee presence. “With nearly 30 million U.S. students relying on free or reduced-price meals during the school year, the Summer Hunger Campaign aimed to support food banks in one of their busiest seasons,” says Stephanie.
Calling All Volunteer Champions
In Colorado, Tonya Romero, a Dealer Credit Specialist at Ford, along with her team, packaged 140 food boxes for local seniors with Silver Key Senior Services. "This experience reminded me just how important community organizations are in tackling food insecurity, plus it was a great way to reconnect with colleagues," shared Tonya.
Looking ahead, the Ford Volunteer Corps hopes to expand their regional ambassador network, using local insights to identify nonprofit partners and volunteer opportunities. Get involved this Hunger Action Month by volunteering at your local food bank, donating, or spreading the word online to help raise awareness about the fight to end hunger.
