Michigan Central Station has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors since its doors reopened in June following a six-year restoration project by Ford. Public tours are being extended through Labor Day weekend to accommodate the demand.
More than 100,000 visitors have toured the revamped Michigan Central Station since its grand reopening in June and if you have not seen Ford’s immaculate restoration, public tours have been extended through Labor Day weekend.
Off to the races
The former train station, which reopened following an immaculate six-year restoration by Ford Motor Company that required more than 1.7 million hours of labor by skilled workers, saw more than 50,000 guests in its first 10 days of public tours and has been drawing an average of 4,000 visitors between Friday evenings and Saturdays since June 21.
“This outpouring of support has truly been inspiring,” said Joshua Sirefman, CEO of Michigan Central. “The Station is more than just a building; it’s a symbol of the city’s strength and a catalyst for innovation, and we’re proud to welcome the community back to this iconic Detroit landmark.”
