DUNTON, UK – Specially adapted Ford Tourneo Customs are providing the perfect mobility solution for the US Paralympic Tennis Team in Paris.

Supplied by Allied Mobility, the Ford Tourneo Custom Independence wheelchair accessible vehicles are being used to transport athletes, coaches and some of the USOPC (U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee) Tennis operations team, who are also in a wheelchair.

Wheelchair Tennis is an extremely popular sport. Founded in 1976, it has been a Paralympic medal sport since 1992.   The USA team consists of five athletes including 2022 Wimbledon doubles winner, Dana Mathewson, 2023 Junior Wheelchair Tennis Player of the Year, Maylee Phelps, Casey Ratzlaff and Conner Stroud who are both looking forward to their second Paralympic games and eight-time Paralympic quad tennis medallist David Wagner.

Based on the newly launched Ford Tourneo Custom, the New Ford Independence™ is suitable for both manual wheelchairs and powerchairs. It’s ideal for larger groups or families who require an accessible vehicle with space for up to six passengers and one wheelchair.
