DUNTON, UK - Ford is expanding its next-generation Transit Custom Nugget camper range to offer new variants and advanced features designed for versatility and comfort on the move and on location.
A new Active model adds rugged styling and equipment to support outdoor enthusiast lifestyles, while a longer wheelbase option offers more spacious kitchen and storage areas to help customers get the most from their camper experiences.
The all-new Transit Custom Nugget is now also available to order with the flexible plug-in hybrid and all-wheel drive powertrain options promised when the next generation camper was first unveiled last summer in Titanium specification.
“Our all-new Transit Custom Nugget range is pushing the boundaries of what a compact camper can offer,” said Barry Quested, Ford Transit Custom Nugget product manager. “We’ve listened to feedback from our customers to deliver the features that will help create unforgettable Nugget experiences – from active lifestyle upgrades and smarter space solutions to advanced powertrains including versatile PHEV for emission-free urban driving and all-wheel drive for exploring more challenging locations.”
Designed for camper customers with a passion for outdoor adventure, the new Transit Custom Nugget Active gets signature SUV-inspired styling, including a bold grille, black plastic rocker panels, exterior cladding, unique 17-inch machined alloy wheels, and LED taillights.
The interior features durable, water-resistant seat fabric designed to help keep the interior dry and comfortable after a day of kayaking or beach fun. Ford’s Smart Camper Touchscreen provides centralised control and monitoring of the camper's functions including lighting, heating, water levels and more when parked at an overnight or activity location.
A new longer wheelbase version of the Transit Custom Nugget is available for both Titanium and Active variants. It delivers a larger kitchen area with more worktop space for food preparation as well as enhanced storage for pans and utensils.
Transit Custom Nugget's fuel-efficient PHEV powertrain combines a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an 11.8 kWh battery and electric motor to produce 233 PS of power for effortless long-distance touring, alongside the ability to drive using pure-electric power.
The expanded all-new Transit Custom Nugget line-up – developed in partnership with leading camper converter Westfalia – is on display to the public for the first time at the Caravan Salon in Düsseldorf, Germany, from August 30 to September 8, 2024.
