DUNTON, UK – Ford’s new all-electric Capri has earned a maximum Five-Star rating from industry vehicle safety experts Euro NCAP.

The announcement means both Explorer and Capri have been awarded the highest possible safety rating by Euro NCAP, and that they provide “overall excellent performance in crash protection” and are “well equipped with state-of-the-art crash avoidance technology.”

Euro NCAP created the Five-Star safety rating system to help consumers, their families and businesses compare vehicles more easily and to help them identify the safest choice for their needs.

The safety rating is determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP.  These tests represent, in a simplified way, important real-life accident scenarios that could result in injured or killed car occupants or other road users. In addition, the driver assist and active safety features are assessed.

In its latest round of tests, Euro NCAP also assessed Ford’s Tourneo Courier, scoring it highly for Child Occupant Protection (80 per cent) and Vulnerable Road Users Protection (81 per cent). Overall, it received a Three-Star rating but will be tested again next year following upgrades to rear seat passenger protection.

Euro NCAP commented: “Euro NCAP has understood that this will be rectified, and the updated passenger car version will be re-assessed in 2025.”
