Thanksgiving is typically a time for families to gather and share a meal, but for many Michiganders, that’s not a reality. In Michigan, nearly 1.5 million people, including 378,000 children, are facing hunger. This holiday season, Ford and Ford Philanthropy are teaming up with long-time partner Gleaners Community Food Bank to provide nutritious meals for families through the 2024 Ford Thanksgiving Virtual Food Drive.
Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan partners with nearly 400 agencies, including our Ford Community Centers, to bring nutritious food and essential resources to neighbors in need. Based in the heart of Detroit, Gleaners stands as a pillar of food security across Southeast Michigan, helping sure that every donation reaches those who need it most.
Last year, Ford and Ford Philanthropy raised nearly $20,000, with each dollar donated providing three meals to local community members. This year’s goal is $28,000. Every contribution – big or small – puts meals on tables and brings hope to people in our community.
