COLOGNE, Germany - The legend isn’t just back – it’s now on its way to the first Ford Capri customers in almost four decades.

Capri electric sports coupes have left the Ford Cologne Electric Vehicle Center and are heading to dealerships across Europe.

The new Capri was developed to inject some soul into the world of electric vehicles – rewiring an iconic cult classic. Since the electric family sports car was unveiled in July, almost 200,000 consumers have configured their Capri online.

Here are some of the key numbers:

  • 24 per cent opted for eye-popping Vivid Yellow – a homage to the classic Capri’s Daytona yellow colour – making it the most popular of the six colour options
  • All Capri customers get luxury features like keyless entry and start, a massaging driver’s seat, heated front seats and heated steering wheel. Regardless, 55 per cent opted for the Capri Premium model, adding Dynamic Matrix LED headlights, a 10-speaker B&O sound system, 20-inch alloy wheels and more
  • The 286 PS rear-wheel drive powertrain is the most popular choice so far, chosen by 59 per cent. Its extended range battery makes driving up to 627 km – further than Cologne to London – possible on a single fill-up
  • Every Capri driver gets advanced driver assistance systems that use 12 ultrasonic sensors, five cameras and three radars. The interior also has a 14.6-inch moveable touchscreen, a 17-litre MegaConsole under the front armrest that can hold three 1.5‑litre drinks bottles with room to spare, and more than 570 litres of bootspace
  • The new all-electric Capri is built at Ford’s historic plant in Cologne following a $2 billion investment that turned it into a state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle Center

“Our new all-electric Capri is the car the iconic sports coupe was destined to become. Its return has been well worth the wait, and we couldn’t be more excited to see a new generation about to experience the style and swagger that made Capri such a legend,” said Jon Williams, general manager, Ford Blue and Model e, Europe.
