VALENCIA, Spain – As floods devastated the Valencia region in Spain, Ford Philanthropy working with their international grant making partner GlobalGiving has made a $100,000 donation to help disaster relief efforts and established a Spain Flood Relief Fund where employees can donate.

Ford CEO Jim Farley underscored the company’s commitment to help those affected by the disaster at the Global Town Hall.

“You may be reading of the devastating floods in Valencia, Spain,” he said. “Your company was the first car company to build in Spain. In 1976 we started the first Fiesta there and in Valencia, now they've been hit by enormous flooding. Our dealers and many of our workforce are displaced from their homes. And we will rally around Valencia, as we do everywhere, to help them. This is what we do as a team.”

Hundreds of people have lost their lives in the floods in the Valencia region, with many more still missing. It is understood no Ford employees are among these casualties.

Ford’s Almussafes facility – home of Kuga - has temporarily ceased production as efforts focus on helping disaster relief efforts.

@Ford will provide an update from Valencia later today.
