Ford Pro™ entertained more than 100 journalists and influencers at the Ford Michigan Proving Ground in Romeo last week for an up-close look at the all-new 2023 F-Series® Super Duty®. Waves of attendees visited June 13-16 for the chance to use MPG’s varied landscape to experience the truck’s towing and off-road capabilities. And the enormous skid pad at MPG was converted for the week into a tech science fair, of sorts, leading reporters between a handful of stations designed to showcase Super Duty features such as Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Tailgate Down Camera, Onboard Scales and Smart Hitch, and the Upfitter Integration System. Here is a sample of what some of the media had to say from the experience:
Raves:
The redesigned 2023 Ford Super Duty has some new high-tech tricks up its sleeve that aren't just fun for barbecue bragging rights—they're super useful for getting work done. The hauling and pulling power of these rigs is impressive, but this time around, their automation and digital features are even more interesting. Regardless of how you feel about the new styling, there's so much to geek out on if you're a truck fan who eats up engineering feats as well as big tires and brush guards. – Andrew P. Collins, The Drive
The Ford F-Series has become one of the fundamental backbones of the United States. The truck has dominated its segment for over 46 years at this point, with countless farmers, construction workers, and government utility workers driving a Ford Super Duty every day. After getting a chance to experience the new Ford Super Duty lineup around Michigan Proving Grounds, that decades-long truck segment dominance is less surprising than ever. – Lucas Bell, Road & Track
Ford’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is basically magic. – Byron Hurd, Auto Blog
I'm one of those people who snarks, "You don't need a truck," at nearly everyone who drives a truck, and I strutted into Ford's Michigan Proving Grounds with the expectation that my viewpoint wouldn't really change. Ford cut me off at the knees by immediately explaining all the ways that the 2023 F-Series Super Duty is actually necessary, purpose-built with tools that solve actual problems for a variety of customer segments, and then demonstrating those capabilities in ways that made sense. – Cherise Threewitt, Slash Gear
Rants:
With these vehicles designed primarily with work in mind, there isn't much that can be done to prevent them from driving like you'd think a big truck would: barely any steering feel, some bounciness out of the leaf springs in the rear, and softness in the front suspension. – Brian Wong, Edmunds
