MADRID, Spain – From some of the best fresh products in the city, to mountain equipment, second-hand clothing, records, handmade furniture, photography, antiques, bookstores and fabric scraps... you can find almost anything in the Rastro and the Mercado de la Cebada, two areas that are the living history of the capital of Madrid.
Located around La Latina, Madrid's low-emission zone, traders operating in this bustling commercial area in the very centre of the city have been able to enjoy zero-emission mobility thanks to Rastro Electricity by Ford for the past three months. This is a pilot project for which Ford Pro has provided an E-Transit, Europe's best-selling electric van, to the Nuevo Rastro Madrid Traders' Association and the Mercado de la Cebada for a year, with the support of the Madrid City Council's Department of Hospitality and Commerce.
During this time, more than 20 traders who are members of these organisations are already carrying out their day-to-day activities with the advantages of zero-emission mobility. This way, the Rastro and the Mercado de la Cebada become benchmarks for the rest of the municipal markets in Madrid.
"Ford Pro has been the leading brand in Europe in commercial vehicle sales for the last eight years, offering our support to both large multinationals and the small and medium-sized companies that make up the economic infrastructure of our society, including the traders and self-employed that populate the central streets of our cities," said Jesús Alonso, CEO and President of Ford Spain.
