Heritage Day, observed on 24 September every year, holds significance for all South Africans as it serves as a reminder of unity within our diverse nation. It’s a day on which we celebrate the country’s rich cultural tapestry and shared history, fostering understanding, tolerance, and a collective sense of identity among our people.
This year, on Friday 22 September, Ford South Africa embraced the spirit of Heritage Day by encouraging our remarkable employees to don their traditional attire. This year’s celebration held special significance as Ford South Africa marks its 100th year of manufacturing in the country. Over the decades, Ford has played an integral role in the lives of so many people, and this day was truly spectacular! The atmosphere was electric, filled with unity as each person proudly showcased their stunning traditional regalia, making it a day filled with vibrant and fashionable celebrations.
From the lively burst of colours to the elegant blankets, intricate beads, and eye-catching headwear, our employees at the Silverton and Struandale Plants came to work dressed to impress, stealing the show. They didn’t merely attend – they absolutely rocked it! At Ford South Africa, our strength lies in the diversity of our wonderful employees, and embracing these differences is one of our core values.
These moments were too precious to keep to ourselves, so we shared them on our social media platforms. The joy on our employees’ faces, marked by big smiles and contagious laughter, truly encapsulated the essence of what it means to be South African. Heritage Day serves as a constant reminder that we are moving towards a more inclusive and unified future for all South Africans, and Ford South Africa is proud to be a part of this journey, a company we all proudly call home.
